What is BPA?
BPA (bisphenol-A) is a chemical that is often found in certain food and drink containers such as plastic bottles and the inner lining of aluminium cans and bottles. It can dissolve into the food and drink held inside these containers and then goes on to enter our bodies, causing a number of different health problems.
All of our AGÜITA products are completely BPA-free.
What is 18/8 stainless steel?
Not to get too technical on you, but steel is an iron-based alloy. The "grade" of stainless steel refers to its quality, durability and resistance to temperature. The first number refers to the amount of chromium present and the second represents the amount of nickel. 18/8 stainless steel is composed of 18% chromium and 8% nickel. The chromium binds oxygen to the surface of the product to protect the iron from oxidation (rust). Nickel also enhances the corrosion resistance of stainless steel. 18/8 stainless steel is considered "food-grade" stainless steel because chemicals cannot pass onto food in any way. 18/8 stainless steel gives you complete reassurance that the food and drink you’re consuming is safe.
Can I travel with my AGÜITA bottle?
Of course! That’s what they are designed for! AGÜITA bottles are made to be taken with you on all of your adventures. If you’re travelling by plane, however, make sure your bottle is empty when passing through security. Then just search for the nearest drinking fountain to refill. At most airports, you’ll find them near the toilets.
What’s the difference between a lightweight and an insulated AGÜITA bottle?
An insulated bottle is basically an 18/8 stainless steel bottle inside another stainless-steel bottle, which are then sealed together. Our vacuum-insulated, 750ml. double-wall bottles will keep drinks cold for 24 hours or hot for 12 hours. Our coffee or tea flasks due to their size and type of cap keep cold for up to 6 and hot for up to 3 hours. Lightweight bottles, on the other hand, are single walled and only suitable for cold drinks but don't keep them cold.
Which type of cap should I use?
The best type of cap for you depends entirely on how and where you plan to use your AGÜITA bottle. For hot drinks, the only suitable cap is the stainless-steel variety. If you want to be able to open your bottle single-handedly, you’ll need a sports cap. For small children, we recommend using a kids cap to protect their teeth. Do be aware that for caps to be fully leak-proof, they need to be closed properly.
Why does AGÜITA offer plastic caps?
Our signature AGÜITA cap is made of 18/8 stainless steel. Some situations, however, require a cap that can be opened and closed single-handedly or by small children, therefore both our sports and kids caps are made from 100% BPA-free, fully recyclable polypropylene.
Can I put my AGÜITA bottle in the freezer?
No. Liquids will expand on freezing, which will then cause deformations to the bottle. This will void your guarantee. AGÜITA bottles have a wide mouth, so you can easily fit ice cubes into them if needed.
Can I put my AGÜITA bottle in the microwave?
No. AGÜITA bottles are made of stainless steel, which is not suitable for microwave use. Heating your AGÜITA bottle in a microwave will damage both the microwave and the bottle and will invalidate your guarantee. If you want to use your bottle for hot drinks, simply make sure to heat the beverage sufficiently before introducing it into the bottle. Never use single-wall bottles for hot beverages.
Can I carry any type of drink in my AGÜITA bottle?
We recommend drinking lots of water, but AGÜITA bottles can be used to hold any of your favourite non-fizzy drinks, provided you remember that only the double-wall bottles are suitable for hot beverages. Sports and kids caps are also unsuitable for use with hot drinks.
Why does my AGÜITA bottle sweat?
Lightweight bottles are not insulated and will therefore “sweat” when filled with very cold fluids. If you don’t want this to happen, choose our vacuum-insulated, double-wall AGÜITA bottle instead, which will keep your drinks cold for 24 hours.
How do I clean my AGÜITA bottle?
It couldn’t be simpler: just warm water, mild detergent and a bottle brush. Our bottles have a wide mouth to make cleaning even easier. If you’re only using your bottle for water, washing it once daily should be enough. If, on the other hand, you’re using it for other drinks, we recommend cleaning it after every use. Once washed, place the bottle upside down to dry. And don’t forget to clean the cap! Avoid using steel wool or other abrasive products, as they will damage the paint and scratch the surface. AGÜITA bottles should never be washed in the dishwasher. Doing so can compromise your guarantee.
How do I remove the smell and/or stains from tea and coffee?
Your AGÜITA bottle is made from 18/8 food-grade stainless steel, which should not retain any tastes or odours. However, if you’ve already cleaned your bottle with a bottle brush, water and detergent, try mixing some vinegar and baking soda with warm water and letting it soak inside your AGÜITA bottle overnight. This should also get rid of any stains.
Will the paint on my AGÜITA bottle last forever?
Well, that kind of depends on how you treat it… The paint used on your AGÜITA bottle is a powder coating, making it significantly more durable than conventional liquid paints as well as more environmentally friendly. It’s also fully recyclable. Over time, it’s normal for scratches to appear. However, scratches or dents from general use or even dropping do not affect the bottle’s use nor safety and do not come under the guarantee. To make the paint last longer we recommend following our cleaning recommendations of warm water, a mild detergent and a bottle brush. Steel wool and other abrasive products will damage the paint or scratch the surface and should not be used with AGÜITA bottles.
Is my AGÜITA bottle recyclable?
Yes, completely! AGÜITA bottles are made from stainless steel which is fully recyclable. What’s even better is that there is a huge market for scrap metal and steel! So, if, for some obscure reason, you decide to part from your beloved AGÜITA bottle, then give it a proper goodbye by taking it along to your nearest recycling point. All AGÜITA caps are also 100% recyclable.
